Happy Birthday Mom and Windu!

Well, It's been quite a week. I went to the Bountiful Temple on Tuesday with Ashley and then to lunch at Macaroni Grill. It was so much fun and I ate way to much. She took me to see all the cute stuff at this place called The Wood Connection. There were a whole bunch of those cute wooden signs with sayings on them and very cute wood letters. I recommend it to anyone who is crafty.

On Wednesday, Weston and I took my mom out to dinner for her birthday. We assumed that my dad wouldn't be home because he's been working in Wyoming for three weeks at a time. He pretty much only gets to see my mom one week out of each month. When we went to meet my mom and brother at my parents' house, my dad was there! He had quit and surprised my mom on her birthday. He even brought her roses. What a romantic. We ate at Applebee's and fought over who would pay the bill. That's my family.

On Thursday, it was Windu's first birthday! I can't believe he's already SEVEN! He sure doesn't act like it. When Weston got home, we took him to Petsmart to pick out a new toy. We got him a new bone, a treat ball, and Jessica the trainer gave him a tennis ball. She calls him her class clown. We also bought him a special dog treat. It was like a candy bar cookie for dogs. We spoil him rotten I guess. We can't wait for him to mellow out. Supposedly that will take another six months to a year!

On Friday, I had to go back to school to set up my classroom. I had been off-track since December 21st so my body is still in "rest mode." I wore myself out yesterday and had swollen feet, sore shins, and a pounding headache. I got a lot done and for the first time ever I am completely prepared for Tuesday when the students come back. When you track on at a year-round school you have to move your furniture (bookcases, teacher desk, tote tray holder, computer carts, etc.) out of the closet it has been sitting in while you were off. You arrange it all the way it was, take everything out of cupboards to put up around the room, hang everything back up on the walls, and so forth. It's pretty much a blank classroom when you get it. Meanwhile, the other teacher that is in the room still has students there on the "track on/off day" and is trying to teach and get her stuff out that day too. It's quite a mess, but everything I need is ready except my mind. Thankfully I have a long weekend to get that part prepared.

Happy New Year and It's a . . . Baby!

Weston and I hope you had a great New Year's Eve! We sure did until 11:30 p.m. We were at his parents' house with our bellies full of Pagoda. We had played Guitar Hero and we were in the middle of watching School of Rock when it happened. Weston's cell phone rang. It was his boss and I knew he wasn't calling to wish Weston a Happy New Year. Sure enough, he was called to go into work to fix some computer system stuff. We arrived at the Beehive Operations Building at 11:58 and rang in the New Year there. And boy did we party. Weston finally found a way to put a "band-aid" on the problem so we could go home, but the "band-aid" took 1 hr. and 20 min. While we waited, we watched Law & Order SVU in the training room and tried to keep our eyes open. It was finally finished at 3:15 a.m. We didn't get to sleep until 4:15ish and woke up around 9. New Year's Day was spent recovering from our festivities.

We had another day to fully recover before the highlight of our week. Today we went to the clinic for our first ultrasound. I'll get to the details in a minute, but the trip there was fun like New Year's Eve. Weston and I drove separate cars so that he could go to work after the appointment and not have to drive all the way back to Magna. I knew that my car needed gas, but I didn't have time to fill up and thought I could make it less than ten miles to Granger Medical Clinic. Apparently I was wrong. The clinic is on Bangerter Highway and 4100 S. I made it halfway between the 3500 S. and 4100 S. lights on Bangerter when my car started slowing down in the farthest lane. Lucky for me there were no cars coming so I could pull over three lanes and onto the side of the road. I called Weston who was only one light behind me and he picked me up. We were only about five minutes late to our ultrasound. We ended up borrowing my parents' gas can after the appointment. I just thought it was unbelievable that the one and only time I have run out of gas was on the way to see our baby for the first time.

Now on to the good stuff. At the ultrasound the technician asked me how many weeks I was. I'll be 19 weeks tomorrow. When I told her she looked at me like I was nuts. She said I'm hardly showing. That wasn't the first person who didn't believe me. She got a lot of good pictures of it and said it was in a good position for most of the pictures. She said it was a little wiggle worm and that its head was really far down into my pelvis so it was kinda hard to get some of the shots she needed. She got everything except the upper lip and the four chambers of the heart. Now I get to have another ultrasound around 30 weeks. It was so cool to see it moving it's arms and legs. She said it was looking straight up at us and we got some really good face shots. She gave us a picture of it's foot, one of it's face, one lying stomach down that shows the spine, one lying on its back, and one other profile. She could tell whether it was a boy or girl, but she didn't tell us. She had us close our eyes three times in case it showed off while she was trying to find things down there. It was really fun to know that we could tell if we wanted, but we are going to be surprised. It felt like when my parents would bring home Christmas presents and they would have me close my eyes so they could bring them in the house. I never peeked and it made Christmas so much more fun. We are really excited that everything is going well and look forward to meeting our little bambino. We wish everyone a very Happy New Year and hope that you will be as happy as we are.
