Happy Birthday to ME!!!

Today I turned the quarter century mark. When I got to work I found my office like this:

There were "Happy Birthday" signs and balloons everywhere, TransFormers crepe paper, transformers repelling from the ceiling and all around my cubicle, and confetti all over the floor. My co-workers and I went to The Original Pancake House for lunch.
Both of our families came over for dinner and pie. I got Guitar Hero 1, the Transformers game, four 12-packs of Mountain Dew, a new pair of pants, tie, t-shirt, and three new transformers. Todd and Brooke sent a gift card in the mail.

Happy 50th Birthday Daddy!

Last night my family threw my dad a surprise 50th birthday party. His real birthday is on February 27, but my mom and dad were out of town for the Nascar races. Mom invited all of his friends from work that could come, his brothers and sisters, his mom, and neighbors. There were about 40 people there. My mom reserved the Banquet Room at Hires Big H and we had all you can eat pizza, salad, and drinks. He had no clue at all that we had planned all of this. He thought we were going out to dinner for Weston's birthday (which is next week). It was quite a success and he had a lot of fun. He says my mom is going to pay for what she did and he has three years to think of something for her 50th. Maybe he'll forget by then. Well, Happy Birthday Dad!

Belly Shots (inside and out)

This morning I had yet another check-up with my midwife. I also had my follow-up ultrasound to look at the upper lip and four chambers of the heart. The ultrasound was pretty fun! We got to see the baby's lips, femur, heart, feet, spine, and lots of other parts. We are still waiting for it to arrive before we know whether it's a boy or girl. The technician said that it had fuzz on it's head and that it weighs about 3 pounds 15 ounces already. She said that the baby is measuring two weeks ahead of our original due date. She also said that ultrasounds this far along aren't necessarily very accurate. My midwife says she expects it to be an eight pound baby. I'm getting even more excited as it gets closer to May. We got our crib and dresser in last week so it won't be long before we'll have the office transformed into a nursery. Everyone is healthy and happy. Oh, here's the first tummy shot I've taken. Yeah, I know I look a little chubby.

Needle-Phobia

We are feeling so much better than the last time we blogged. I finished my last Parent Teacher Conferences for the year on February 21st and 22nd. As a result, I'm a lot less stressed. I also found out that I don't need to panic about the nine pounds I gained in five weeks in January. At my last appointment, I had lost two. That sort of evens it all out. This last Saturday I had to face my fears and let the lab take my blood again. It seemed like the first time they just kept taking more and more of my blood. The nurse kept popping tubes off of the needle and inserting new ones. I think she filled seven containers in all. I didn't pass out, but I came pretty darn close. If any of you really know me you'll know this is a regular occurrence when there is a needle in my arm. This time it was SO much better. I had to drink the yucky glucose drink an hour before my blood was drawn. The nurse only took two containers full this time and I couldn't even tell. I'm just glad I didn't have to do the three hour glucose test.

Weston has been watching lots of episodes of The Dog Whisperer. He's learning all of the tricks to get Windu to be submissive and obedient. Last night, Windu slept in his crate in our bedroom with the door to the crate open all night. I expected to wake up to a wet nose in my face, but he didn't come out until Weston let him out to use the grass. Yay Windu!
